Jan TrębaczSludgier sounds awesome. Just please make sure that IF Nick uses growls, he goes for the low-pitched tone from the pre-Icon era, not those half-assed, pseudo- black metal shriek that ruined your otherwise awesome last album for me...5 days ago   ·  3
Christian BäroPL fan since 1997 here. First time i heard PL was at school from my friends Sony walkman cassette player and i was sold. No other band has sounded so awesome from the first listening. Album was Icon and i celebrate the whole PL catalog. I love that even the band slides from genre to genre it still sounds Paradise Lost. Most awesome band ever. Period. Big respect!5 days ago   ·  7

Alexandre CorreiaSounds epic! Loving the last few releases and been listening to the older albums a lot lately. Would be cool if you guys re-recorded 'As We Die' as a bonus track some day \m/5 days ago   ·  2
Daniel D. Stanisic‘Sludgy’ is precisely the word I do not fancy being applied to Paradise Lost: slow, morose, sorrowful and the like are fine, if cliché-ridden descriptors, but anything 'sludgy' puts me in mind of all the things I vehemently dislike in my music, i.e. stoner, southern, post- rubbish. I rather hope it is a mere misnomer, and that Medusa is untempered Yorkshire Doom/Death Metal of the first water.5 days ago
Gábor HammerI don't understand, how can you get better and better and energetic by the passing years:-)? Thank you guys, stay same! Paradise Lost is better than ever!5 days ago   ·  1

Anton ZadoroghnyI like how is happy Nick on that pic near microphone and sheet with lyrics! "Medusa" is monumental title! 8 songs in a new album already means different approach for the next album - that what PL all about - experimental stuff and it's own ideas! Can't wait to hear it. Good luck!5 days ago

Kil XénoROTTING GOTHIC MISERY! Oh, the excitement is real. Since being a PL fan (2009/10) PL have released, in my opinion two masterpieces ("Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" and "The Plague Within") and I don't like to use that word "masterpiece" lightly. Not only were these two albums in my opinion the best PL albums since "Gothic" but for me they're some of (doom) metal's finest and unique albums in general. Heavy and melodic, miserable yet uplifting to those who feel it and wonderfully distinctive; quintessential Paradise Lost. Can't wait for the new album! PL's doomiest album yet? God damn! I hope the growls are still there, equally I hope to hear more beautiful, melancholic, melodic cleans from Old Nick; the balance was/is flawless. But only 8 songs? I wonder if any track will be longer than 6 minutes... :O ^_^ So I'm just taking it all in now.... New Paradise Lost, new Vallenfyre! *Breatheeeee* Well unholy fucking shit! Doom on, we shall! All we need now is new Bloodbath and erections will exceed their usual limits! Ahhhh! :D5 days ago   ·  5

Steve ButlerI don't like this at all but I am not one bit surprised. I am not a fan of Doom Metal. I got into Paradise Lost for their Gothic Metal style Icon/ Draconian Times. I also liked their foray into Electronic as long as it was dark. However pure suicidal doom metal with no hope is not my thing. I await the new Samael album which I hope will be better than this.6 days ago

Kil XénoMy love for Paradise Lost ("Lost Paradise", "Gothic", "Faith Divides Us" and "The Plague Within" in particular) makes me a little craazy. I love when I come across interviews from the band taking about the early days, etc. Very cool. What I love most about PL is that most of their albums are unique and don't really sound like anyone else, "...out of that box..." I love it. They're distinctive. Innovative. Pioneering. The super underrated "Lost Paradise" is one of my favourite death metal-doom albums ever. "Gothic" and "The Plague Within" are two of my favourite gothic/ death-doom albums ever, and "In Requiem" plus the extremely underrated "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" are two of my favourite gothic/doom metal albums ever. PL are masters! Cheers!5 days ago   ·  1

Kil XénoUnholyfuckingbolloxshit. Great news! You guys kept this quiet! I thought you'd start writing maybe the end of the year, not start recording at the beginning of it! I'm not complaining though; The Plague Within for me is not only the best Paradise Lost album since Gothic, but one of the best doom albums. Ever. Seriously. It's even better than Epicus doomicus metallicus. It reminded me of old PL and not just for obvious reasons, but actually because it was back to PL being innovative again. They gave us something we had never heard before. That band that just finished writing a masterpiece death/doom album called Lost Paradise (yes, it's a masterpiece, play songs from it live please!) but instead of repeating that, decided to actually make something new. Creating a whole new sound. "Plague" was that band again. As cool as some of the mid-era albums were, too many times would we hear someone say, "Reminds me of Depeche Mode" or "Reminds me of Sisters of Mercy". I enjoy the Paradise Lost that "reminds me of Paradise Lost" most. I remember listening to "Plague" (aka. one of the sexiest albums of all time) for the first time and during some songs, I sat there thinking; I actually don't know where this song is going next - and this is great! The songs weren't predictable. The riffs and structure of it all, it was not predictable, it was art. They took me on a journey and this is a rare joy to take place in an era where musicians are more content with fitting in than standing out. Where many musicians are content on sticking with a samey, safe formula, PL and "Plague" had other ideas! "Victim of the Past", for example is probably the most complete PL song for a true PL fan (that is, one who loves than band from Lost Paradise through to present). It has everything. The death, the doom, the gothic atmosphere and the melancholia that brings joy to our emptiness. So yeah.... I'm beyond hyped at his point. I hope to the gothic lords above (or maybe I should just direct my prayers to the four wonderful bastards in the band) that this album continues where the last album left off, but takes everything to the next level. So the death is deathlier (more "Flesh From Bone" tracks please, I beg of you!!!) the doom even doomier ("Beneath Broken Earth" was intense!) and the gothic more gothic-er! Gothic-er, there you go; new album title. What do you think? :p Cheers you miserable bastards x4 weeks ago   ·  2

Benjamin CrommentuynJeez, what a bunch of oversensitive pussies here. If you are offended by an inverted cross then i highly recommend looking for another music genre to enjoy because in metal you´ll encounter plenty of anti-religious messages and images. And don´t give me that Jesus died on the cross for our sins shit. Who fucking asked him to do it anyway? I applaud PL for taking a stance against christiantiy and religion in general. Any form of religion is simply moving backwards instead of ahead.4 weeks ago

Kris Dahlinlost paradise and especially gothic were extremely important releases to me personally. gothic is still one of my favorite albums ever! i used to jam gothic, turn loose the swans and serenades. Big three paradise lost, my dying bride and anethema. you guys must have pushed each other a lot in the early days.1 month ago
Christer PetterssonCongratulations! First time I listened to your music was in the Swedish radio. I was a baker then and had to stop the baking machine so I could hear to the music and what group it was. I bought the disc 1993 - the Icon album and since then I have listened to your music. Hope for lot of albums and songs in the future from you. You are great!1 month ago
